Coastal Alaska
Almost Alaska. I say that because Hyder; In my opinion, Is pretty much in BC. The tiny sliver of the states nestled into the coastal mountains near Stewart. It does have that "PNW" Magic like True Alaska though. Towering mountains dipping into salty fjords. Glaciers tipping what seems to be every peak. Magical and overwhelming.
It was a spur of the moment trip, for the most part, because I recently became unemployed without much warning. So naturally, it was homeward bound to do some soul and job searching. Given that a few years had passed since I had really been able to explore the north coast, Prince Rupert and Hyder Alaska where lingering on the mind. Like a shiny little ocean pebble, hiding in the mountains up north.
It was cold, wet, dreary. Everything I expected and hoped for, the kind of weather that feels like the cool embrace of the woods on your skin, so rich each breath was filled with cedar, smoke and salty air.
